A hurricane warning forces Stella and her manager-husband to take shelter in an off season, out of the way Florida motel. As the hurricane approaches, an equally powerful emotional storm rises in the isolated motel. Time passes, the air thickens, and conflicts erupt. The five temporary inmates are gripped by a claustrophobic fever of desire, fear and hatred. Sparked by lust, this sexual battleground pits sisterhood against machismo —seduction becomes violation and violence turns to murder. An atmosphere reminiscent of classic film noir (Key Largo comes to mind) by an Italian whose work reminds me of Charles Burns.
